How Simone Biles Protects Her Engagement Ring While Working Out (It’s Kinda Genius)

For Simone Biles, her engagement ring is one of her most prized possessions, perhaps rivaling any gold medal she’s won. So of course, she would do anything to protect it—even if that means getting a special second ring.

Earlier this month, Biles and her fiancé, Jonathan Owens, went on a romantic getaway to Turks and Caicos. And now that she’s back, the professional gymnast has decided to return to the gym.

In a new Instagram story, the young athlete posted a post-workout video. As she zoomed in on her shiny rock, her fans noticed the ring was encased in a white case (not to be confused with the silicone ring protector here). The ring looks different because it actually is: Whenever she works out, she puts on a second ring from Casual Carats that comes built into a white silicone band. Genius.

“Okay HOW CUTE,” she wrote on the photo. “So I can work out & not damage my engagement ring,” with two white heart emojis and a silly face.

Back in February, Biles and Owens announced their engagement on Instagram. On Valentine’s Day, she shared a slideshow of photos on her page, showing the moment the NFL player popped the big question.

The first photo shows Owens getting down on one knee on the steps of a gazebo. Another pic shows Biles giving an up-close look at the sparkly ring, which features an oval-cut diamond.

She wrote in the caption, “THE EASIEST YES. I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! Let's get married, FIANCÉ.”

Shortly after the announcement, the football player shared a video montage capturing the special moment on his IG page. “I’m so excited to begin this journey with you baby,” he wrote. “You know I’m with you every step of the way.”

More great tips from Simone.
