Sarah Michelle Gellar Had a Mini ‘Cruel Intentions’ Reunion with Her Former Co-Stars

This is not a drill: Sarah Michelle Gellar reunited with her Cruel Intentions castmates, Ryan Phillippe and Selma Blair.

In celebration of the actress’s 45th birthday, Gellar was joined by her co-stars on a recent outing in Los Angeles. Per Access, the trio visited the Jeffrey Deitch Art Gallery to view the exhibition inspired by their 1999 film. The display featured paintings (by artist Sam McKinniss) that captured various scenes from the teen romance drama.

The Scooby-Doo alum posted a photo slideshow on her personal IG page, showcasing numerous pieces in the exhibit. The first pic featured the movie stars standing in front of a painting that depicted a famous scene in the film. In the scene, Kathryn Merteuil (Gellar’s character) and Cecile Caldwell (Blair) shared a kiss.

In the next pic, the trio saw a painting that showed Sebastian Valmont (Phillippe) standing completely nude next to a swimming pool. The Big Sky actor gazed up at the piece, with a smile on his face.

Gellar wrote in the caption, “Art and surprises on my birthday. What a special day,” alongside a special shoutout to Phillippe, Blair, the artist and the gallery. The art gallery reposted the photo on their own IG page, saying it was an “absolute joy” to have some members of the cast and crew visit the exhibit.

Based on the 1782 novel Les Liaisons dangereuses, the film centered around wealthy high school teenagers living in NYC. In the movie adaptation, Kathryn challenges her stepbrother Sebastian to take on a difficult task: to deflower the headmaster’s daughter, who is played by Reese Witherspoon. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Cruel Intentions became a cult classic.

Here’s to having more Cruel Intentions reunions in the future—and seeing Reese join the next one, perhaps?
