Sarah Jessica Parker Shares Super Rare Picture of Son James on His Birthday

Celebrations are in order for Sarah Jessica Parker's son, James Wilkie Broderick.

The Sex and the City star's eldest child just celebrated his 19th birthday earlier this week, and SJP marked the occasion with a special post on her Instagram, which included a rare shot of Broderick.

Along with the close-up photo, Parker included another one of her poem-style captions, where she said, “He is 19. Today. He doesn't wake with us. He is in his life. Away. In his studies. Among new friends. Sending home details. There is so much to tell. New adults making lasting impressions. Opening his still young eyes. New thoughts. New books. New and different mornings. On this one, it's bittersweet. Not to be with him. To wish him the most happiest of birthdays. Our Scorpio. Our Oct baby. Our JW. Happy Birthday. Balloons. Candles. Hoping every birthday wish to come true. Xxx, Mama.”

This photo of Broderick is rare given that Parker doesn't usually post pics of her kids' faces. Typically, if she shares an image of her children, it is taken from the back, like the one she posted in early September when the family dropped Broderick off at college. Parker's other two children, Marion and Tabitha, were also beginning their first day of seventh grade.

In a similarly-written caption, Parker had said, “In the span of 7 days. One crosses the threshold into his freshman year of college. The other 2 into 7th grade. The house is different. We are different. They need us more. And far less. So many know. Gutted at the time passed. Passing. Exhilarated by the possibilities that await them. The love. The love. The love. X, SJ.”

We hope SJP is able to celebrate in person with her son soon.
