Sarah Ferguson Describes How Princess Beatrice Narrowly Avoided This Tiara Mistake on New Podcast

Sarah Ferguson, 63, is spilling the royal tea in her new podcast, Tea Talks with the Duchess & Sarah. In the latest episode, the Duchess of York told a story about her how daughter, Princess Beatrice, 34, narrowly avoided a tiara mistake while attending the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan.

Ferguson recounted the story to her co-host, Sarah Thomson, in a snippet that she posted to Instagram earlier this weekend. “I think you saw that Beatrice and Edo went to Jordan for the wedding,” Ferguson says in the clip, referring to her eldest daughter and her daughter's husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 39. “I did.” Thomson replies. “I was going to ask you about that because there was so much about the tiara. I've got to ask you.”

FYI: Princess Beatrice borrowed her mom's York tiara for the royal wedding—but this isn't just any accessory. In fact, Ferguson wore this diamond headwear for her own nuptials to Prince Andrew back in 1986. As noted by The Court Jeweller, the tiara was purchased for the Duchess of York by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

In the podcast, Ferguson continued her story, saying to Thomson, “Well, yeah I wondered whether you were going to [ask] because I know you like those sparkly things.”

The duchess then divulged: “I think the first hairdresser she went to, I think that...the hairdresser put the tiara on thinking she’d watched too much Disney. [It was] right at the front.”

With a chuckle, Ferguson said, “I think she really had. Lovely hairdresser in Jordan—very nice, I'm sure. But I think they'd been studying Disney princesses.”

However, the duchess revealed that her daughter quickly remedied the situation: “But anyway, Beatrice then did it and put it on herself. But she did look incredible.” Thomson then chimed in and added, “Oh, she looked amazing.”
