If there’s one thing Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson can do, it’s pull off an eye-catching fashion look. And she did just that at the 2024 Knights of Charity Gala, where she showed up to the event in a chic black-and-white monochrome number.

On July 22, the Duchess of York, 64, walked the gala red carpet wearing a Safiyya Kalika Monochrome Long Dress ($1,885). The head-turning ensemble featured a black and white cape that covered her shoulders and cascaded down her back. But what made the look really stand out was the sleek opera gloves, which paired perfectly with the monochrome floor-length gown. And for the pièce de résistance, she tied the entire ensemble together with an Ethan K mini briefcase.

The result? An undeniably elegant look that manages to be sexy without being too revealing. The column fit is highly flattering while the cape adds a sense of drama, while also covering up the upper arm area. It's an especially stylish choice for women over 50. PureWow Fashion Editor Abby Hepworth agrees, noting: “All black is flattering because it can be used to disguise any features you'd rather not highlight, but also runs the risk of turning you into an amorphous blob when worn from head to toe. That flash of white up top (and draping down her back) adds dimension to this gown while also drawing the attention up to her smiling face.”

Want to recreate the look for your next summer function? Then don’t worry, we have you covered. We found an elegant Sachin & Babi One Shoulder Shane Dress in the color ivory/black for $495 $445 and an AQUA Scuba Crepe Off The Shoulder Corset Gown in the color black/white at Bloomingdale’s for $288 $216.

Also, did you know the dress Ferguson wore to the 2024 Knights of Charity Gala shares something in common with Kate Middleton’s Wimbledon ensemble? Yup, that’s right: According to WWD, the Princess of Wales (who made her brief return to the spotlight amid her cancer treatment) wore a purple midi Safiyaa dress on the final day of Wimbledon, where she was joined by her 9-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, and her sister, Pippa Middleton.

IMO: Sarah Ferguson and Kate Middleton never disappoint in the fashion department.
