Sarah Ferguson is getting personal.

The Duchess of York, 63, revealed on her new podcast, Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah, that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She also discussed preparing for a single mastectomy, which took place this past weekend.

The episode, titled “Renewed perspective and the beginning of a journey,” was released late last night. Early this morning, the royal shared a post to Instagram and Twitter, which showed her appreciation for the outpouring of support she has received since sharing the news.

Ferguson's post featured a picture of a pink flower, and she added text to the top of the image, which read, “Thank you so much for such kindness and support.”

The comments section was filled with loving messages from royal followers, many of whom sent their well wishes to the duchess and shared stories of their own experiences.

In the fourth episode of Tea Talks, Ferguson detailed her journey with co-host Sarah Thomson. “It’s very important that I speak about it,” Ferguson said.

The Duchess of York also took the opportunity to say that her diagnosis has given her a new outlook on life, and she urged her listeners to get checked. Her father, Ronald Ferguson, suffered from cancer for the last decade of his life.

Throughout her adult life, the duchess has often championed charities and nonprofits that focus on helping cancer patients. Since 1990, she has been a patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
