Sandra Bullock Opens Up About Her Decision to Step Back From Acting: ‘I’m So Burnt Out’

Earlier this year, Sandra Bullock shocked fans when she announced that she’s taking a break from acting. And now, the 57-year-old actress is getting candid about her decision.

In a new The Hollywood Reporter interview, Bullock explained why she’s taking a step back from the entertainment industry after The Lost City. “I don’t want to be beholden to anyone’s schedule other than my own,” she told the mag. “I’m so burnt out. I’m so tired, and I’m so not capable of making healthy, smart decisions. And I know it.”

Bullock revealed that she wants to establish a life outside of acting, adding, “Work has always been steady for me, and I’ve been so lucky. I realized it possibly was becoming my crutch. It was like opening up a fridge all the time and looking for something that was never in the fridge.”

The actress admitted that her ultimate goal is to “be OK not having work to validate you.”

Bullock announced the news back in March while she was promoting the premiere of The Lost City. At the time, she revealed that when it hits theaters, she will step out of the spotlight for a bit to spend more time with her two children, Louis (12) and Laila (10).

“I take my job very seriously when I’m at work. And I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family,” she said, “That’s where I’m gonna be for a while.”

We fully support your decision, Sandra.
