New ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Ryan Seacrest Says Pat Sajak Gave Him Foolproof Advice

As Ryan Seacrest prepares to take over hosting Wheel of Fortune following Pat Sajak’s retirement announcement, the former Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host, 48, is sharing the wisdom he learned from his predecessor.

In an exclusive interview with E! News, Seacrest revealed the advice he received from Sajak and Vanna White before taking over as host: just have fun. “They’ve just told me how fun the show is,” he told the outlet. “It is probably the best show to work on on television. You’re giving away money every single night to people, and it never gets old.”

And while the American Idol host has some big shoes to fill, Seacrest is “looking forward” to stepping into the new role. “Of course I’m nervous. I haven't done it yet, so I’m terrified,” he admitted.

Seacrest added, “Pat Sajak’s a legend whom I’ve looked up to and watched so many years, and to know that that show is such a staple for America and such a destination for people and families in the evening, I just want to do my best job and make it seamless and have people continue to enjoy it.”

Earlier this summer, Sajak announced that he is retiring from the long-running game show after 41 seasons. According to an official statement published by Deadline, the 76-year-old (who has hosted the show since 1981) confirmed that the current season will sadly be his last.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” Sajak said. “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!”

You’re going to do great, Ryan.
