The Royal Family Gives Rare Peek Inside the Round Tower at Windsor Castle

The royal family seems to be taking a page out of Architectural Digest's book, because they've been offering some rare peeks inside their homes on Instagram.

In the past few months, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles have been giving inside glimpses of their main residence, Clarence House. Meanwhile, we've learned intriguing tidbits about the royal residences, like when Princess Eugenie's husband, Jack Brooksbank, divulged that there's a secret tunnel leading from St. James’s Palace to a local bar.

But now, the family is giving followers another special peek with a video that was shared to the official royal family Instagram account. In the caption they asked, “Have you ever wondered what is inside the iconic Round Tower at Windsor Castle?”

In the video, it's revealed that the tower is home to the Royal Archives, which are described as “a unique collection of documents relating to the history of the British Monarchy over the last 250 years.”

The archives house everything from letters to diaries and other special pieces of history that are teased in the clip. According to the post, this video is the beginning of a nine-day dive into the archives.

They wrote, “Over the next nine days, we’ll be joining in with the Archive and Records Association’s #ExploreYourArchive week to show you some of the fascinating documents and artifacts that give us an insight into the history of the Royal Family and the Royal Household. Each day has a theme. Follow our stories to see a new record each day, starting with today’s theme… ‘small.’”

While we're looking forward to the next nine days, this isn't the first time the royal family has given us a peek at Windsor Castle this week. Just a few days ago, they shared a photo of Queen Elizabeth where she was seen standing in one of the estate’s Audience rooms.

We can't wait to see what else they share.
