No one stole the show at the 2024 Oscars quite like Rita Moreno.
Today, the 96th annual Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. During the red carpet arrivals, Moreno, 92, turned heads in a black gown by Badgley Mischka.
The dress featured a ruffled neckline that continued down the side of the dress. She accessorized with black gloves, a gold bracelet and diamond earrings.
Moreno walked the red carpet with her daughter, Fernanda Luisa Gordon, who wore a white floor-length gown that featured a bedazzled bodice and feather skirt.
Moreno previously teased her Oscars look during a recent appearance on the Today show. “I’m going to wear a gown that’s gonna knock your socks off,” she said.
The actress continued, “It’s black also but it’s so astonishing. I can’t wait. And I’m going to do something very different with my hair. I won’t say what but it's going to be very different.”
In 1962, Moreno won the Oscar Award for Best Supporting Actress for playing Anita in West Side Story. At the time, she made history as the first Hispanic woman to win an Academy Award.
In 2021, Ariana DeBose also won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for the same role in Steven Spielberg’s remake. They became the third pair of actors to win separate Academy Awards for portraying the same character.
Thank you, Rita Moreno, for proving that age is just a number.
