Reese Witherspoon Shares New Update on ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 3: ‘It’s Exciting’
Best. News. Ever.
The Morning Show star, 48, recently revealed that the show’s third season is currently being developed. In fact, she and her co-star, Nicole Kidman, are anxiously waiting on a script from the book’s author, Liane Moriarty.
“Nicole and I have been waiting,” she told E! News. “We’re in waiting for Liane Moriarty. She’s going to be turning in something very soon. We’re back to the original author, and we’re going to go back to the original characters.”
Witherspoon even teased the possibility of incorporating a time jump, since the child actors have grown since the show originally premiered in 2017. “It’s exciting, too, because I think the kids are probably a little bit older now,” she added. “So that might add another element. I don’t know yet, I haven’t read it yet.”
Rumors about Big Little Lies season three have been circulating ever since the second season premiered in 2019, but the renewal wasn’t confirmed until November 2023. At the time, Kidman teased the new episodes during an interview with Vanity Fair. “We’re moving fast and furious, and Liane is delivering the book…and we’re in good shape,” she said.
“The rest is—we need to shut up, because there’s this whole thing that you should never talk about something until you’ve done it,” Kidman continued. “If you talk about doing it, it’s the dopamine hit of doing it. You feel like you’ve done it. Did you know that? Have you heard about that? It’s a scientific study.”
