Reese Witherspoon’s Brand-New Comedy Series Is Like ‘Ted Lasso’ Meets ‘Bring It On’

Reese Witherspoon is getting ready to show off her comedy chops once again in the new Amazon Prime Video series, All Stars.

According to an exclusive report by Deadline, The Morning Show actress is set to star in the half-hour comedy series and serve as executive producer for the project. The new show comes from her production company, Hello Sunshine.

Oh, and she’ll have the chance to sit in the director’s chair as well as she’s directing the pilot and half of the episodes in the season. And as if that weren’t already enough, the show has already been picked up for a second season before shooting has even begun.

All Stars will revolve around a former cheerleader (Witherspoon) who resides in Daytona Beach, Florida. Somehow, she’s able to swindle her way (Inventing Anna, who?) into a job at a school in England teaching students how to be all-star cheerleaders. This show sounds like a mix of Ted Lasso and Bring It On—and we’re here for it.

Aline Brosh McKenna, who is the co-creator and writer behind The Devil Wears Prada and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, will serve as the showrunner for the show. Right now, Witherspoon is the only name attached to the cast. In addition, a release date has not been released yet.

Jennifer Salke (Head of Amazon and MGM Studios) released an official statement. “We are beyond excited to continue our fantastic relationship with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter with this one-of-a-kind comedy, All Stars!,” she wrote. “Aline Brosh McKenna’s pitch delivered it all—originality, an iconic lead character, and tons of fun!

She added, “There is also a throughline of hope, perseverance, and being true to your authentic self that will resonate everywhere. We are over the moon to work with Reese, Lauren, Aline, and the Hello Sunshine team to bring this series to life for our global Prime Video audience.”
