Reba McEntire Reveals That Dolly Parton Is Unreachable by Phone and Communicates Via Fax

It turns out that even for some of the world's biggest stars, Dolly Parton is a hard person to get a hold of...if you don't have a fax machine that is. In a new interview with the Southern Accents Radio podcast, country music legend Reba McEntire revealed that this is the main form of communication she uses to reach the “9 to 5” singer.

McEntire sat down with Dave Cobb for the podcast, where she talked about Parton's unusual form of correspondence. It all began when Cobb asked about her recent collaboration with Parton, where the two remade McEntire's “Does He Love You” collaboration with Linda Davis for her Revived Remixed Revisited album last fall.

As this was (shockingly) McEntire and Parton's first recorded duet together, Cobb asked the “Turn on the Radio” singer what it was like “making that call” to Parton. However, McEntire quickly corrected him, saying, “Well, you don't call Dolly, you fax her...And you fax your people, and your people talk to her people.” She added, “That's the only way I know to get ahold of her.”

While this might come as a surprise, given that fax machines have become more outdated in recent years, McEntire revealed she's not the only country music star who has to use a fax machine to reach Parton. “I even asked Kenny Rogers one time, I said, ‘Do you have Dolly's cell number?’” she confessed to Cobb. “He said, ‘No.’ So you fax her.”

Even Parton's goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, has been contacted by the “Jolene” singer through fax. While visiting The Graham Norton Show, Cyrus explained that Parton once tried to send her a fax. “She gets upset when you don't respond,” Cyrus said. “And it's like, I'm sorry, I don't even know. Half the people watching your show might not even know what a fax machine is.”

While McEntire may have been surprised that she couldn't phone Parton, she still gushed about working with the artist. “[Dolly's] so creative, so witty, so spunky, so feisty,” she said. “And the biggest-hearted person I've ever met in my life, and I've met some bighearted people.”

Guess we'd better find an old fax machine if we ever wanna get in contact with Dolly.
