Queen Maxima & King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands Shopped at a Gap & Sephora in NYC Yesterday

As much as we’d love to say that we’d recognize Queen Maxima of the Netherlands in the wild, these brand-new photos prove that it’d be no easy task.

Yesterday, the monarch, 48, was seen shopping in New York City with her husband, King Willem-Alexander. From their semi-casual outfits to their familiar-looking bags, the pair could have easily passed for tourists if it weren’t for the hordes of paparazzi following them from store to store.

During the outing, the pair strolled along Lexington Avenue and stopped at a number of retailers, including Gap and The Container Store. Queen Maxima even paid a visit to Sephora, where she perused the beauty store before chatting with an employee.

The royal wore a summery green dress by Akris, which features a sophisticated collar, V-neckline and flared silhouette. She completed the look with all-brown accessories, including a belt, handbag and sandals.

In addition to the shopping spree, the royal couple also attended a meeting with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres. The gathering marked the tenth anniversary of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA)—a position that Queen Maxima has held since 2009.

Unlike Meghan Markle, who kindly refused to take photos with fans at Wimbledon, Queen Maxima and her husband, 52, didn’t seem fazed by the onlookers. In fact, they appeared amused by the attention, so we can only hope it’s the first of many public outings.

Royals, they’re just like us.
