To celebrate his recent ascension to the Danish throne, King Frederik, 55, and his wife, Queen Mary, 51, were joined by their four children at Aarhus Cathedral for a special church service. Afterwards, while waving to the crowd outside, a funny little hair mishap happened with the queen and her 16-year-old daughter, Princess Isabella, proving that royals really are just like us—well, sometimes.
Queen Mary and Her Daughter Princess Isabella Just Had a Funny Hair Mishap
It happens to us all
The cute moment was captured on video by onlookers. The 8-second clip of the mishap was posted on X (formerly Twitter), showing the king and queen's eldest daughter looking back at her mother and beckoning her to come closer in view of the cameras. Queen Mary wrapped her arm around her daughter before raising her hand to wave. As the video shows, her glove suddenly gets caught in Princess Isabella's hair, tugging it up in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. The duo laughed it off, sharing a private chuckle that went unnoticed by the rest of the family.
According to the official Instagram for the Royal Danish House, the family was joined by other leaders for a celebratory service held one week after King Frederik's ascension to the throne. On Jan. 16, King Charles even released a statement congratulating the new monarch, stating, "My wife joins me in the writing to convey our very best wishes on the day of your accession to the throne of the Kingdom of Denmark."
Now, it's not first time we've seen Queen Mary and Princess Isabella share an inside joke with one another during a family occasion. As shown in the photo above, snapped back in April 2023, the then 15-year-old wasn't shy about giving her mother a silly look while she grinned back. Typical mother-daughter behavior!
We can't wait to see what other shenanigans (even if unintentional) these two have up their sleeves next.
