From an all-denim outfit to an effortless black coat, Queen Letizia of Spain always brings her fashion A-game. However, the 52-year-old royal caught my attention for an entirely different reason during her latest outing.
Queen Letizia Holds Back Tears During Historic Farewell for Daughter Princess Leonor
Proud is an understatement
This week, the Spanish royal family traveled to Cádiz for a special send-off. Queen Letizia held back tears as she stood alongside her husband, King Felipe, and waved goodbye to their oldest daughter, Princess Leonor, who is embarking on a six-month voyage aboard the Spanish Navy's training ship, Juan Sebastián de Elcano.
The proud parents were photographed standing on the dock as they waved and smiled at Princess Leonore, who was wearing an official Navy uniform. King Felipe couldn’t resist pulling out his own device and taking a picture, despite the sea of photographers capturing the same shot.
Queen Letizia was wearing flattering navy blue pants and a matching jacket, and she accessorized with a gold headband in her hair. On the other hand, King Felipe looked sharp in his Spanish navy uniform.
According to Hello! magazine, this six-month voyage is the first step in Princess Leonor’s three-year military training. During an interview with the press, the proud parents revealed that it will be the longest they’ve gone without seeing their daughter.
“With sadness and with hope, it will be very good for her,” King Felipe said. Queen Letizia added, “It will be many months without seeing her.”
Talk about a bittersweet moment.
