ICYMI: Princess Beatrice secretly wed her now-husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, after they were forced to cancel their wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic. While it was a surprise to us plebeians, the ceremony was pre-approved by none other than Queen Elizabeth.
In fact, the 94-year-old monarch gave her granddaughter a super-special present ahead of the nuptials: her blessing. According to Hello! magazine, the queen granted Beatrice permission to marry Mozzi in the private wedding, which was attended by a select group of friends and family.
It’s tradition for members of the royal family to receive the queen’s official blessing prior to tying the knot. The monarch even OK-ed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding back in May 2018.
Still, we weren’t expecting Beatrice to keep her nuptials on the DL, since last we heard, plans were still up in the air. Many believe the newlyweds will eventually host a large celebration that the entire royal family can attend, so there’s still hope for a Prince Louis sighting.
