Next month, Queen Elizabeth will mark her 70th year as queen with a Platinum Jubilee. Although the events will take place throughout the year, there’s a special meaning behind one of the dates.
Per Hello! magazine, Buckingham Palace recently confirmed that the queen’s Platinum Party will take place at the royal residence on Saturday, June 4. If the date sounds familiar, it’s probably because Meghan Markle gave birth to her and Prince Harry’s daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on that same day in 2021. Therefore, the Platinum Party will coincide with Lilibet’s first birthday.
The news is a pretty big deal, especially since the Platinum Party is one of the most star-studded events. Not only will it feature performances by talented artists (who’ve yet to be announced), but it will also boast an exclusive guest list.
Still, the overlap likely won’t be a problem for Prince Harry and Markle, who haven’t announced whether they’ll attend the Platinum Party. While we expect the couple to support Queen Elizabeth at one of the many Platinum Jubilee events, perhaps they’ll skip out on this one.
