Buckingham Palace Releases Striking Portrait of Queen Camilla After She Missed Royal Events Due to Illness

The British royal family had a difficult year, which included everything from cancer diagnoses to last-minute cancellations due to illnesses. While I’ve seen my fair share of royal family photos (from stunning shots at Salisbury Cathedral to mesmerizing portraits), this brand-new portrait offers a glimpse of hope after everything that happened in 2024. 

Last night, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a state banquet at Buckingham Palace to celebrate Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani (the Amir of the State of Qatar) and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, during their two-day visit to the U.K.

In honor of the special occasion, the royal family shared a striking portrait on Instagram featuring King Charles and Queen Camilla standing with The Amir and his wife. 

The caption read, “Tonight, The King and Queen hosted a State Banquet for The Amir and Sheikha Jawaher of the State of Qatar, and approximately 150 guests in the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace.”

The royal family even shared details on how they manage the guest list for the state dinner, which included everyone from Princess Anne to David Beckham. “Guests are usually invited based on their cultural, diplomatic or economic links to the country being hosted,” the caption continued.
