King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla attended church near the royal Balmoral estate in Scotland today to mark the second anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II's death.

The royal duo have been spending the summer at the estate, where Her Majesty passed away at 96 years old on September 8, 2022. For the occasion, Charles wore a black suit, white shirt, and black and red tie, with a small pink flower pinned to the lapel of his jacket. Meanwhile, Camilla donned an earth-toned green outfit with a red tartan trim. She completed the look with a matching green hat decorated with a feather hat pin, and a cream-colored purse.

Camilla's choice of outfit can be seen as a special tribute to Scotland—and Queen Elizabeth herself. The earthy tones are reminiscent of the beautiful Scottish Highlands and tartan is a traditional Scottish design.

Scotland—and Balmoral, in particular—held a special place in the late monarch's heart. In fact, according to author and royal expert Tina Brown, her final days were always intended to be at the beautiful location. Brown previously shared with PureWow that: “[The queen] wanted to die in Scotland, I was told by several people who knew her very well. It was always her desire to die at Balmoral, and she was in her last months, and she knew she was in her last months.”

Camilla and Charles are also very fond of the stunning location, choosing to spend their summers there just as the late monarch did for decades. Per People, the king also appointed his wife to the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle last year, the highest order of chivalry in Scotland.

In addition to paying their respects at an intimate church service at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral, the king and queen also marked the occasion on social media by sharing an image of the late monarch smiling and donning a bright pink outfit.

The caption simply read: “Remembering Queen Elizabeth II, 1926-2022.” Fans were quick to take to the comments and show their respects, posting notes like “We miss you your majesty thank you for your service” and “Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II will always be missed, never forgotten and forever loved - what a legacy she gifted to her people & her country.”

It's clear that Camilla—and the general public—are still keeping the late Queen Elizabeth in their hearts.
