When it comes to raising her kids, Princess Eugenie’s main focus is good manners.

The royal, 33, recently sat down for an interview on Kate Thornton's White Wine Question Time podcast, where she shared rare details about her sons, August (or "Augie"), 2, and Ernest (or "Ernie"), 4 months.

During the interview, Princess Eugenie revealed the number one parenting rule that she’s instilling in her boys. “Manners maketh man,” she said. “I’m trying to do that with my kids right now.”

She was, of course, referencing a famous proverb that is believed to be derived from William Horman's work. According to Lochinver House, it means “that politeness, good manners and civility are essential to humanity.”

If that sounds familiar, it’s probably because Meghan Markle previously revealed that she swears by the same parenting rule. “We always tell [Archie]: ‘Manners make the man. Manners, manners, manners, manners, manners,’” she told The Cut in August 2022.

Princess Eugenie shared further details about her sons, adding, “My kids are so wonderful. Augie is a two and a half-year-old firecracker and just listens to me, I don’t know why. And Ernie smiles the whole time, so they’re really easy and wonderful boys.”

The royal also joked that Augie and Ernie have inherited her sleeping habits. “If there was a tournament in the Olympics of sleeping, I think I would win it,” she said. “I could sleep for Great Britain as a national sport, and so I think my boys have gained that talent, and they are deep, deep sleepers. I hate to say this to all mums listening, but they are really good sleepers.”

“Please,” “thank you” and “good night” are the three phrases every parent wants to hear, so we're totally stealing the princess’s parenting advice.
