Princess Eugenie is fully embracing her scoliosis surgery scar in a candid Instagram post.

In honor of International Scoliosis Awareness Day, the 34-year-old princess posted throwback photos taken during her 2018 wedding on Instagram. In the snaps, Princess Eugenie is facing away from the camera and her back scar is on full display. In case you didn’t know, the royal underwent spinal surgery after she was diagnosed with scoliosis (a curvature of the spine) at just 12 years old.

In the caption, she wrote, “Today is International Scoliosis Awareness Day. I just wanted to share my scar and encourage anyone out there who’s gone through something similar to share theirs with me. Let’s be proud of our scars! I’d love to repost any of your images on my stories so please tag me and I will share.”

Princess Eugenie continued, “To all of you who have just received the diagnosis, to those wearing braces, to those recovering from an operation and for those who have lived with a scar for years - My thoughts are with you on Scoliosis Awareness Day. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and researchers at @scoliosis_sr #internationalscoliosisawarenessday.”

Royal admirers far and wide flooded the comments section with supportive messages, with one person writing, “Most beautiful royal wedding look, scar included!!! [red heart emoji].” Another person commented “What a beautiful picture of a princess on her wedding day. A scar is a badge of honor that you did and so can others.”

This is not the first time the princess has shown her scar on social media. Back in June 2020, Princess Eugenie posted a candid picture of her scar in honor of International Scoliosis Awareness Day. The pic shows the royal wearing a black shirt with the back pulled down, completely exposing the scar.

Here’s to being proud of our scars.
