This Rare Childhood Photo of Princess Diana Will Make You Do a Double Take

We can’t stop staring at this rare photo from Princess Diana’s childhood.

Last week, the entire royal family celebrated what would have been the late royal’s 60th birthday by unveiling her long-awaited statue in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace. That same day, her brother, Charles Spencer, shared a never-before-seen picture of Princess Diana as a child.

In the pic, Diana is wearing a white sweater and black skirt as she stands outside of Park House in Sandringham. She styled her hair in low pigtails and accessorized the look with knee-high socks and loafers.

The caption read, “Today is the 60th Birthday of Diana, Princess of Wales. 1 July 1961 was an exceptionally hot English summer’s day, Diana’s parents always remembered. She was born in Park House, on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. Park House is seen in the background of this family photograph taken by Diana’s father, the 8th Earl Spencer.”

Princess Diana is often tied to her family’s home, Althorp House, which shouldn’t be confused with Park House (pictured above). Although she grew up and was laid to rest at Althorp, she was born at the Sandringham residence.

Nevertheless, Charles still lives at Althorp House to this day and regularly shares memories about his late sister on social media. Last year, he celebrated Princess Diana’s birthday on Instagram by posting a stunning sunset photo. The caption read, “Clouds above @althorphouse this evening.”

One thing’s for sure: Princess Diana was born a fashionista.
