Charles Spencer, also known as Princess Diana’s brother, just posted a rare family photo of their grandparents during World War II, sharing an intimate glimpse into the rich family history of Prince William and Prince Harry’s late mother.

This isn’t the first time Spencer posted images or talked openly of his family before, either. The 60-year-old historian and author recalled having fond memories of his big sister in school, who he says was “very good to me as a child.” Then when he displayed a glamour headshot of his mother Frances Shand Kydd, many were quick to link the resemblance back to Princess Diana, from the soft eyes to the short curls.

This past week, Spencer shared an especially rare photo of his and his late sister’s grandparents on his Instagram. He captioned it, “My grandparents, Jack and Cynthia Spencer, enjoying a bit of downtime in the front courtyard of @althorphouse in c.1940.”

He continued, “A moment when World War II must have felt a million miles away. Photograph taken by my teenaged father, with his box brownie camera.”

Giving us a glimpse inside the rich history of the Spencer’s home, I can’t help but be moved by how special it is to continue to receive sporadic peaks inside the family.

Many people were quick to flood the comments with their thoughts and sentiments over the image. “I see Diana in your grandmother,” wrote one follower. “I inherited my dad’s brownie box camera and his photos he took of his travels during WWII and later family photos. Lovely photo.”

Another noticed the family’s likeness in image of their statures and expressions, writing: “So very nostalgic of a bygone era in time. Very attractive grandparents. I understand now where Spencer’s get there looks from. It is wonderful to have pictures of our ancestors down the line. Thank you for sharing, Earl Spencer. Love the picture.”

Thank you, indeed, Charles, and please keep the family pics coming.
