Before Kate or Meghan, the late Princess Diana was breaking all the royal style rules and forging her own sartorial path (this we know...and frequently ponder on). So when we need some style advice, we love looking to the people’s Princess for unending inspo. One of the royal’s most beloved brands: Italian leather goods designer Tod’s. Founded in Italy in the 1920s, Tod’s quickly became one of the royal’s favorites for timeless classics like leather loafers and handbags. Now, the fashion house has just rereleased the Tod’s D Bag (named for Diana) with a modern update.
Princess Diana’s Favorite Handbag Was Just Relaunched with a 2019 Twist
Princess Diana is pictured above carrying the original Tod's D Bag during an outing to the Harbour Health Cub (and we'd definitely still wear this entire outfit today, a testament to the princess's sartorial staying power).
The new bag, called the Tod's D-Styling handbag, is less tote and more satchel. To celebrate the launch, Tod's created a series of short films featuring four famous faces (supermodel Irina Shayk, Chinese actress Maggie Jiang, Korean actress Jung Eun-Chaem and Japanese model-actress Nana Eikura) called "My Life Is in This Bag."
The new design comes in a variety of colors and sizes, but we think Princess Di would opt for the baby blue version for spring (with a matching skirt suit and coordinating hat, of course).
