During the holiday break, Princess Diana’s younger brother, Charles Spencer, shared yet another throwback picture of one of his relatives on social media. Only this time, the rare family portrait just so happened to be an old snap of his grandfather, Jack Spencer.

Days before Christmas, the history aficionado posted a black and white photo of his grandad posing with his military buddies on Instagram. In the caption, Charles wrote that the photo was apparently taken at the Officer Cadet Training camp in Aldershot, in July of 1909.

In the grainy photo, Jack (who was 17 years old at the time) is standing with one hand on his hip and the other on his friend Cable’s shoulder. Charles went on to share deets about the rest of his grandpa’s pals, writing, “Others named are (going clockwise) Trew, Page, Williams, and another Trew.”

He added, “In the center sits a Corporal Grierson. While I know that my grandfather went on to be an officer in the 1st Life Guards, and was shot and wounded in World War I six years after this photograph was taken, I wonder what happened to these other teenagers from @harrow.school in that bloodbath of a conflict?”

Charles’s followers quickly pointed out the similarities between him and his late grandfather. One person wrote, “Didn’t even have to point him out, your genes are so strong. Such babies they were.” Another commented, “Wow, strong genes, that could be you!”

This is certainly not the first time Charles has shared an old pic of his granddad on IG. A few days later, the 59-year-old shared an old photograph of his grandpa Jack with his great-aunt Lavinia and great-uncle Georgie. In the pic, Lavina, Georgia and Jack (who were just kids at the time) smile at the camera while sitting in a giant shrub.

Keep the family throwbacks coming, Charles.
