Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, is practically an encyclopedia of Spencer family history. From historic paintings to rare childhood photos, the historian is always finding special treasures. And this time is no different.

Earlier this month, Spencer shared a photo on Instagram of a buckle that was found on the grounds of Althorp House. The 19th-century relic features a Latin scripture, along with the royal coat of arms.

He wrote, “19th century buckle found buried next to an old track through the Park at @althorphouse—possibly from a bridle, with the royal coat of arms.”

Followers filled the comments sections with positive messages about the unique find. One person wrote, “So many interesting and historical finds! You are so fortunate in this magnificent place!” Another added, “I can't even!! If I saw that in a market I would snap that up in a second!!” Someone even thanked Spencer for sharing the buried treasure with followers. “I am really enjoying your mini tours. Thank you.”

The last comment was likely referring to the continuous photos that Spencer has been posting on Instagram. His and Princess Diana’s childhood home, Althorp House, is currently undergoing renovations. As a result, the historian has been sharing the artifacts he’s unearthed.

Let the treasure hunt continue.
