Bustier tops are trending

It’s fairly common for celebrities to take fashion inspiration from one another—like when Kerry Washington copied Kate Middleton in the “it” color of 2024 or when Taylor Swift followed suit in the royal’s go-to footwear

This week, Princess Charlene of Monaco took a page out of Meghan Markle’s fashion handbook when she attended the 2024 World Rugby Awards ceremony. The 46-year-old wore a flattering bustier top that looked similar to a blouse the Duchess of Sussex sported earlier this month (but this one had way more pizazz).

Unlike Markle’s all-black ensemble, Princess Charlene was wearing a bedazzled bustier top underneath a tuxedo-style dress. The best part? According to Hello! magazine, the outfit was designed by Princess Catherine’s favorite fashion designer, Alexander McQueen.

Princess Charlene’s bustier top reminded me of the outfit the Duchess of Sussex wore when she stepped out to celebrate the launch of a new haircare line, Highbrow Hippie. (FYI, Markle is an investor of the brand, which was co-founded by her colorist, Kadi Lee.)

At first, I thought Markle was wearing a flattering jumpsuit. But upon closer inspection, I realized it was a two-piece set consisting of a bustier top with matching pants. The blouse had a sweetheart neckline that complemented the hourglass silhouette. The wide-leg trousers were a trendy alternative to fitted pants, and they added the illusion of length to the duchess’s legs.

Guess I need to add a bustier top to my holiday wishlist
