2 Prominent Royals Are Missing Christmas with the Fam This Year (& I Don’t Mean Harry & Meghan)

They have a legitimate excuse

From standout family photos to festive Christmas trees, the royals are already getting into the holiday spirit. This year is supposed to be “one of the biggest family Christmases ever,” with King Charles continuing the late Queen Elizabeth’s annual tradition. Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t expected to join, they’re not the only ones. Sadly, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are going to miss out on the festivities, too.

According to Hello! magazine, the royal sisters will *not* travel to Norfolk to spend Christmas with the family. Instead, both Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have opted to spend the holiday with their in-laws.

Princess Eugenie will celebrate Christmas with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, along with her in-laws, George and Nicola Brooksbank. On the other hand, Princess Beatrice will accompany her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, to wherever his family celebrates the holiday.

I don’t know which in-laws Beatrice will visit, since Mozzi’s parents are divorced. (His dad, Count Alex, remarried a woman named Ebba Margaretha Antonie von Eckermann, while his mother, Nikki, is currently married to David Williams-Ellis.)

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, will reportedly celebrate Christmas together at the Royal Lodge.

Meanwhile, the rest of the royal family—including King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton—will spend the holiday in Norfolk. The monarch will reportedly continue the late Queen Elizabeth’s cherished tradition of hosting Christmas at Sandringham.

Royal insiders have called it the ultimate family reunion. With around 40 relatives expected to join the festivities at Sandringham, one source even dubbed it “one of the biggest family Christmases ever.”

Now that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie aren’t going, perhaps there’s room for one more?
