Dozens of Princess Anne Photos Were Taken During Surprise Olympics Appearance—But I Noticed Something Strange About Every Picture

Hmm, interesting

People don’t call Princess Anne the hardest-working royal for nothing. Shortly after sitting down for a TV interview with the BBC, the Princess Royal made a surprise appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics

According to Hello! Magazine, the 73-year-old royal (who was recently hospitalized with a concussion following a speculated horse-related accident) had a pretty packed schedule for her Olympics appearance. For example, she was spotted watching the Men’s Rugby Sevens match from the stands on Saturday, July 27. In addition, Princess Anne participated in the medal ceremony at the Men’s 100m Breaststroke final.

Numerous photos of the Princess Royal were taken during her appearance at the Olympics. And yet, I couldn’t help but notice something strange in every photo: Unlike the rest of her family, she remains expressionless and stoic throughout the events.

One photo snapped shows the mother of two appearing unfazed as she watches the men's gold medal rugby sevens match between France and Fiji alongside her husband, Timothy Laurence.

Another pic shows Princess Anne calmly standing beside David O'Connor (Chair of the FEI Eventing Committee) as they look on during the medal ceremony for the Eventing Jumping Team Final. In the photo, Princess Anne is standing with her fingers interlocked (a stance often used by her late mom, Queen Elizabeth II, during countless public appearances.)

Meanwhile, this photo shows the royal looking too cool for school as she stands up from her seat during the Men's Pool A match between Great Britain and the Netherlands.

Princess Anne’s cool demeanor is a strange thing for me to see because it is a huge contrast to how other members of the British royal family have reacted at the Olympics. Take these photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton at the 2012 Olympics for example.

Below, you can see the royal couple clapping and cheering with glee from the sidelines:

Princess Anne sure knows how to pull off a good poker face.
