We finally know who was the hardest working royal family member of 2023. (And no, it wasn’t Kate Middleton or Prince William.)
A digital PR agency recently conducted a study that analyzed every royal family member and how many official outings they attended this year. According to the data (via The Court Circular), Princess Anne was the hardest working royal of 2023.
The Princess Royal, 73, carried out a total of 212 royal engagements (not including official meetings). These events were a combination of charity gatherings, award ceremonies, memorials, sporting events and luncheons—you name it.
Princess Anne beat out her older brother, King Charles, who attended 197 royal engagements. They were followed by the Duke of Edinburgh (141), the Duchess of Edinburgh (114) and Prince Richard (113). Prince William was ranked sixth with 110 outings, while Princess Catherine tied for eighth with the Duchess of Gloucester (92) behind Queen Camilla (101).
This marks the sixth—we repeat, sixth—time that Princess Anne has earned the title of hardest working royal. In 2022, she came in first place with 214 official outings. (She was also named the busiest royal in 2021, 2018, 2016 and 2015.)
It’s important to note that Prince Harry previously revealed that the Court Circular wasn’t always giving the full story. “The main reason the Court Circular was a joke, a scam, was that none of us was deciding in a vacuum how much work to do,” he wrote in his memoir, Spare. “Granny or Pa decided, by way of how much support (money) they allocated to our work. Money determined all.”
Regardless, there’s no denying that Princess Anne is a busy woman.
