2024 was quite the year for the British royal family. First, King Charles was diagnosed with cancer…then Kate Middleton. Queen Camilla was forced to cancel events at the last-minute due to a chest infection. Even Princess Anne was hospitalized, though she has no memory of the accident that put her there.
Princess Anne Shares Rare Details About Her 2024 Accident (Including How She Has No Memory)
"You are sharply reminded that every day is a bonus really"
During an interview with the Press Association, Princess Anne shared never-before-heard details about the incident, which resulted in a five-night hospital stay to treat a minor concussion. When asked what she remembers about it, the royal said, “Nothing.”
Princess Anne admitted that the events leading up to the accident are foggy, too. However, her injuries were consistent with a horse kicking her in the head. “I know where I thought I was going and that was to go to the chickens, no, nothing to do with horses,” she explained (according to BBC). “I don’t have any idea what I was doing in the field, because I never normally went that way.”
The Princess Royal revealed that the accident taught her to appreciate every day to the fullest, adding, “It just reminds you, shows you—you never quite know, something [happens] and you might not recover.”
She continued, “Take each day as it comes, they say. You are sharply reminded that every day is a bonus really.”
When asked about her future plans, Princess Anne explained that she has no plans to retire. “I don’t think there's a retirement programme on this particular life,” she said. “It isn’t really an option.”
No wonder she’s the hardest working royal.
