Pack your bags, royally-obsessed fans, because Prince William is taking an overseas trip this month!

According to Hello! Magazine, the Prince of Wales, 41, will travel to attend the ceremony for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, which is scheduled to take place at Omaha Beach and Saint Laurent sur Mur in France.

Though the prince will be joined by King Frederik of Denmark, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands, the future king won’t be accompanied by his wife, Kate Middleton, who is currently undergoing treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer—which she revealed in an emotional video posted on social media back in March.

This new trip comes after the British royal family announced they would adjust their engagement schedule to accommodate the upcoming U.K. general election, which is set to take place on July 4, 2024.

On May 22, U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak shared the election news in a press conference, per People. After the announcement, a spokesman from Buckingham Palace shared, “Following the Prime Minister's statement this afternoon calling a General Election, the royal family will, in accordance with normal procedure, postpone engagements that may appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign.”

“Their Majesties send their sincere apologies to any of those who may be affected as a result,” the spokesperson added. While it has been confirmed that Prince William will step in for his dad at this particular event, King Charles and Queen Camilla will attend a different D-Day ceremony. Beyond these specific events, it’s still unclear which other engagements, in particular, have been affected by the shift in plans surrounding the election.
