2024 has indisputably been a year of royal babies. Princess Rajwa of Jordan and her husband, Crown Prince Hussein, welcomed a baby girl, Princess Iman bint, in August. In the same month, Prince Ludwig and Princess Sophie of Bavaria's baby boy, Prinz Rupprecht Theodor Maria made his appearance as well. Prince Ernst August Jr. and Princess Ekaterina of Hanover announced the arrival of Princess Margarita in July. And now the British royal family adds another birth announcement to list. Maddison May Brudenell, Prince William and Prince Harry's third cousin, just welcomed her fourth child—the first with her fiancé Bret Kapetanov.

In an interview with Hello!, the former Ralph Lauren model divulged the details of her wedding and the birth of her son, Michael Adam. The baby's namesake is Brudenell's paternal grandfather, the royal obstetrician Michael Brudenell. The couple welcomed Michael Adam at home on August 6, before experiencing a medical emergency.

"I lifted him out of the water and held him to my chest, and then I heard a snap, it was very alarming," Brudenell told the publication. "Michael went white and then the midwives took over; then the ambulances and paramedics arrived."

Thankfully, everyone is now doing well.

Michael Adam is Brudenell's fourth child; she has three older children from her first marriage to DJ Olaoluwa Modupe-Ojo. They divorced in 2022. The baby is her first child with Kapetanov, a Canadian welder. The pair met on a transatlantic flight—and it was love at first sight. Per Hello!, Kapetanov proposed and moved to the U.K. within months of their meeting.

"Sparks were flying, and it felt impossible to resist that magnetic attraction between us. We were drawn together, and we kissed. It felt like true love," she told the outlet.

While her husband-to-be comes from more humble origins, Brudenell's lineage reads as a who's who in British aristocracy. She is Lord Mountbatten's great-granddaughter and Lady Pamela Hick's granddaughter. The latter was a cousin of Prince Philip and bridesmaid and lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth II. So what does the family think of this unlikely pairing?

"From my perspective, you could just see how cherished he was," Brudenell told Daily Mail. "It was so clear to me that he is a king in the eyes of his family and friends, and that’s more important than any formal title." As for her formidable (and beloved) grandmother: "He's shown Grandmama nothing but respect, and she holds him in high regard because of it," she tells Hello!. Per Daily Mail, The couple will tie the knot at St. Mary the Virgin Church in the Chiltern Hills, followed by a reception at Lady Pamela's Oxfordshire home, The Grove.

Sounds like double royal congratulations are in order.
