Prince William’s Body Language Says a Lot in New Behind-the-Scenes Video

Jusr a few days ago, The Earthshot Prize offered royal fans a glimpse of Hannah Waddingham playing a game of darts against none other than Prince William. In the brief clip—which is taken from a new documentary titled The Earthshot Report—she puts the future king on the spot as she asks a few tough questions about his work. And now, the prince is treating royal enthusiasts to a new (and rather telling) behind-the-scenes video of the duo on set.

On Instagram, the Prince of Wales shared footage of himself and the actress taking a tour of Alexandra Palace, and I couldn't help but notice his nonverbal cues as he walks alongside the Ted Lasso star. The caption reads, "Behind the scenes with friend of the @EarthshotPrize and host of The Earthshot Report 2024 @hannah_waddingham. Celebrating the impact of our Finalists and all they do in helping to repair and regenerate the planet."

In the short teaser, the camera crew is seen filming Prince William and Waddingham as they chat about the Earthshot Prize, explore the palace and enjoy some ciders while playing darts. The actress begins, "Welcome to the world famous Alexandra Palace." And in response, William, who hasn't visited the palace in four years, responds, "What a wonderful palace it is. It is cool..it feels weird being back here actually."

I immediately noticed the prince's relaxed posture as he engaged with Waddingham, and the smiles were genuine. Not once did he use his signature move of crossing his hands in front of his body, which typically suggests a level of discomfort and a desire to stay closed off.

Rather, the royal casually kept his hands in his pockets and made gestures with his hands, indicating his high confidence and comfort levels. As he speaks, his entire face is engaged and he flashes a few genuine smiles, showing that he's happy to be there—even when the cameras aren't rolling.
