The first photo shows a vintage snap of Queen Elizabeth, followed by new and old pics of the royal through the years. The couple captioned the post, “Happy Birthday Your Majesty, Ma’am, Granny. Wishing you the most wonderful day! [balloon emoji] Harry & Meghan.”
The royal family celebrated the queen’s 93rd birthday IRL with an Easter service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The festivities were attended by Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton. Noticeably missing from the bunch was Markle, who is expected to give birth any day now.
The birthday shout-out comes just three weeks after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex debuted their new Instagram handle (@SussexRoyal) and shared a never-before-seen photo of the couple standing on the balcony of the Grand Pacific Hotel in Fiji.
We later learned the account was stolen from another user, Kevin Keiley, who woke up on the morning of April 2 only to find that his handle of three years (@SussexRoyal) had been changed to @_sussexroyal_. Although the royal family has yet to comment on the snafu, Instagram confirmed that it’s allowed to modify a user’s account if it appears to be inactive.
