Prince Harry and Meghan Markle honored Martin Luther King Jr. Day in a very special way.
On Monday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex provided lunch for an organization very close to their heart. Called The Mission Continues is a nonprofit that is staffed staffed by military veterans and distributes food to locals in need. The organization shared a copy of the letter that accompanied the special lunch in a post on Instagram.
“In honor of this day of service, and in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all that he stood for, we want to send our thanks and gratitude to the team at The Mission Continues,” the couple wrote in the message to volunteers. “We're so proud of all the work you're doing to support your community and hope you enjoy this small token of our appreciation.”
The ex-royal duo added, “Thank you for your service today and every day. We look forward to joining you soon. Stay safe and keep up the good work.” They signed their names as simply "Harry and Meghan.”
This isn’t the first time the duke and duchess got involved with this particular organization. Back in November, Prince Harry visited the platoon's base in Compton, in association with the community-based Walker Family Events Foundation, to help package food. Meghan and Harry have been very active members of their Los Angeles community since their big move to Montecito back in July. Since then, they have participated in a handful of charity events throughout their area.
Way to go, you two. We couldn’t imagine a better way to honor MLK day.
