Prince Harry shared a relatable detail about Archie’s birth that will make every dad giggle.
Prince Harry Accidentally Used All of Meghan Markle’s Laughing Gas During Archie’s Birth
Oops
In a newly resurfaced excerpt from his memoir, Spare, the Duke of Sussex, 39, discussed his nerves leading up to the birth of his and Meghan Markle’s first child. Prince Harry admitted that he used the laughing gas that was meant for his wife, 42, while they were waiting for the baby’s arrival.
“I took several slow, penetrating hits,” he wrote. “Meg, bouncing on a giant purple ball, a proven way of giving Nature a push, laughed and rolled her eyes. I took several more hits and now I was bouncing too.”
Prince Harry revealed that when Markle’s labor began to progress, the nurse called him out for using the entire canister. “When her contractions began to quicken, and deepen, a nurse came and tried to give some laughing gas to Meg,” he explained. “There was none left. The nurse looked at the tank, looked at me, and I could see the thought slowly dawning: Gracious, the husband’s had it all. Sorry, I said meekly.”
Luckily, the situation was resolved quickly by a much-needed replacement canister. Prince Harry added, “Meg laughed, the nurse had to laugh, and quickly changed the canister.”
Prince Harry and Markle welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6, 2019 at Portland Hospital in London.
Fingers crossed Prince Harry wasn’t nearly as nervous during Lilibet’s arrival.
