It’s set to be a whirlwind week for Prince Harry, who just turned 40 and has officially arrived in New York City for a number of events all tied to causes—from the Diana Award to African Parks—that he holds near and dear. To kick things off, the Duke of Sussex (who is in town without his wife Meghan Markle) attended a star-studded dinner hosted by the World Health Organization on Sunday night where he was joined by another European royal: Queen Mathilde of Belgium.
Prince Harry Touches Down in NYC—and Hangs Out with Another Royal at Star-Studded Dinner
He's in town all week
But that’s not all—a number of celebs such as Forest Whitaker and dignitaries from countries around the world were also in attendance for the occasion, which focused on violence against children and its impact on mental health, according to reports. All are here for the U.N. General Assembly High-Level Week and Climate Week, which are both taking place in NYC at the same time from September 22 to September 29.
Harry’s participation this week at philanthropic engagements that he’s long been involved with including African Parks, the HALO Trust, the Diana Award and Travalyst was announced in late August amid reports that his brother Prince William could also be in NYC at the same time. (William’s Earthshot Prize is hosting its third annual Innovation Summit, taking place at the Plaza Hotel near Central Park on September 24.) But as of right now, William is not scheduled to make the trip to NYC as he did last year.
As for Harry, his schedule will be on overdrive as he supports his causes and promotes the efforts of the Archewell Foundation, too. But he’s also fresh off a week of 40th birthday festivities, which were said to include a celebration with his wife, Meghan, and his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as well as a getaway with close friends.
Now, it’s officially back to (quite a bit of royal) work.
