In the trailer, we’re reintroduced to Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres)—you know, the New York lawyer who was disbarred and relocated to Chicago, where she got a job as a fixer for the city’s mayor, Bobby Novak (Morgan Spector). (Think Olivia Pope from Scandal.)
But unlike during her Suits days, Pearson is now using her go-getter attitude for the better good of the community.
“Some of you are well aware of my past, but I am anxious to give something back,” she says in the trailer before adding, “We could fix some real problems in this city.”
Pearson also stars Simon Kassianides (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Isabel Arraiza (The Oath), Eli Goree (Riverdale) and Chantel Riley (Wynonna Earp).
Suits originally premiered in 2011 and told the story of a big-time corporate lawyer, Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), and his team. In addition to Macht, the series also starred Rick Hoffman (Louis Litt), Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen), Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross) and Meghan Markle (Rachel Zane). Suits is currently in its eighth season, and season nine is expected to premiere later this year.
Although series creator Aaron Korsh previously revealed that Markle may not return for the final episodes, he never said anything about a cameo on Pearson. *Crosses fingers*
