It's been a little over a month since 2023 Paris Fashion Week, and while we're still pouring over our notes on the hottest new trends, we're also still thinking about Pamela Anderson's headline-grabbing appearances, where she opted to go makeup-free for every show.
In a new interview with People, the 56-year-old star got real about her decision to not wear any makeup. “I'm makeup free at home, so why not for Paris Fashion Week?” she told the outlet.
And sure enough, while sitting front row at shows for Isabel Marant, Victoria Beckham, Vivienne Westwood and more, Anderson was bare-faced, totally glowing in her natural look. “I really didn't know anyone would notice it, but I'm glad it became a positive message,” the Baywatch actress told People.
She also noted that she's embracing a positive attitude about aging in general. “I call if Life-ing, not aging,” the Love, Pamela author said. “Chasing youth is futile. All we can do is embrace who we are at the moment we are in, and be okay with where our feet stand right now.”
Although she's reflecting on it now, the Home Improvement actress spoke to Vogue France about why she was embracing the au naturel look during the middle of Paris Fashion Week.
“I don't know, something just kind of came over me, and I was dressing in these beautiful clothes, and I thought, ‘I don't want to compete with the clothes,’” she said. “I'm not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room. I feel like it's just freedom. It's a release.”
She also told Elle in August that the passing of her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, was another reason she was wiping makeup out of her life. “She was the best,” Anderson said. “And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup.”
