In the trailer, we’re introduced to Poppy Parnell (Spencer), a journalist slash podcaster who is haunted by a controversial case that launched her career. You see, she helped put a man named Warren Cave (Paul) behind bars, and while she initially thought he was guilty, she’s starting to question the entire investigation.
“I helped seal Warren’s fate with a series of articles…but is there an innocent man in prison?” Poppy says. “And did I lead that charge?”
When she revisits the case, she soon learns that the family has been keeping secrets that may have resulted in the imprisonment of an innocent man.
“I have to get to the truth of what happened that night,” Poppy says.
In addition to Spencer and Paul, Truth Be Told also stars Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls), Elizabeth Perkins (Sharp Objects), Michael Beach (ER), Mekhi Phifer (Divergent), Tracie Thoms (9-1-1), Haneefah Wood (Zoe Ever After) and Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us).
The limited series is created by Nichelle Tramble Spellman (The Good Wife), who is also serving as an executive producer alongside Spencer and Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies).
