Hold On, 'Nobody Likes This' Isn't the First Time Kristen Bell and Adam Brody Have Acted Together

Third time's the charm

When two actors have undeniable chemistry with one another, they're bound to work together again. This was the case with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody in Netflix's newest romantic dramedy, Nobody Likes This. The two play romantic opposites who are starting to fall for each other despite coming from very different backgrounds. Bell's character Joanne is the loud and outspoken host of a relationship podcast that she runs with her sister, but things become complicated pretty quickly when she starts to fall for an unconventional rabbi named Noah, played by Adam Brody. Doubts are cast on the pair's future by everyone from their families and friends to the local teenage girls. The show has received enough praise that it's been renewed for a second season. Bell and Brody's chemistry is just that good.

But this isn't the first time these two actors have worked together. We've seen them in a handful of other projects playing romantic opposites. In 2013, Bell and Brody starred in a film called Some Girl(s), that follows the story of The Man (aka Brody) as he takes a cross-country roadtrip to visit all of his ex-girlfriends before his upcoming nuptials. Bell plays Bobbi, a woman who The Man visits in Los Angeles and also happens to be the person The Man almost married earlier in his life. Even nearly 11 years ago, Bell and Brody were electric on screen, despite the fact that their characters were exes.

In the same year, Bell and Brody also played opposite of one another in the Showtime original series, House of Lies. The show stars Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz and Josh Lawson as they navigate a corporate landscape and their characters' personal lives in a satirical comedy about management consulting. Bell's character, Jeannie van der Hooven, has a relationship with guest star David, played by Brody, in the fifth and final season of the show as Jeannie contemplates her relationship with Don Cheadle's character. The role that Brody played in this series was essential for Bell's character to solidify her thoughts and feelings regarding Marty Kaan (Cheadle).

The two actors also appeared in Scream 4 (2011) and CHiPs (2017) together, though their characters didn't seem to interact all that much.

It's mind boggling that it took so long for Bell and Brody to reunite for another romantic entanglement, considering their previous roles, but boy are we excited that they've reconnected for this highly rated Netlfix original. And though the actors are simply friends in real life, hopefully, we'll be seeing plenty more romantic and steamy moments between the two in the show's sophomore season.
