Netflix Announces Star-Studded 2021 Film Slate (We’re Talking Meryl and Leo and Timothée and…)

Just when we thought the coronavirus pandemic would put a damper on this year’s streaming content, Netflix swooped in to save the day.

The streaming service just released a sneak peek at its 2021 film slate, which is chock-full of surprises.

We’ll let you watch the clip for yourself, since it’s pretty amazing how many projects are coming our way. According to Deadline, Netflix’s 2021 streaming slate consists of 70 original films—52 of them are live-action, ten are foreign movies and eight are animated features.

A highlight is Don’t Look Up, which will star Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, Cate Blanchett, Chris Evans, Meryl Streep and Jonah Hill.

In addition to Zendaya and John David Washington’s Malcolm & Marie, there’s also Red Note, which will feature appearances by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds. Oh, and how could we forget about the directorial debuts from Halle Berry and Lin-Manuel Miranda?

“We’re most excited about the accumulation of different things,” Scott Stuber (head of original films for Netflix) told Deadline. “We like our continuation in the YA space with All The Boys and Kissing Booth in a genre we’ve helped reignite, this Fear Street trilogy we’ve got with Chernin Entertainment, as we work out the cadence of how we release them.”

Guess 2021 is looking up after all.
