It’s only January 8, and it’s already been a big month for Meghan Markle. Not only did she make her long-anticipated return to Instagram, but she also debuted the trailer for her brand-new Netflix series

Ahead of the premiere, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, revealed that her beloved rescue dog, Guy, has sadly passed away. Markle shared a video tribute on Instagram, featuring never-before-seen photos and videos of the beagle. The footage also included rare cameos by her and Prince Harry’s two children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.

The beginning of the video shows rare footage of Guy that was taken over the years, including a clip of the dog wrapped in a blanket. In the background, one of the kids can be heard saying, “Cheese guy, cheese Guy.”

The next clip shows Archie holding Guy's leash and walking next to Prince Harry. Another video shows Guy sitting on Markle’s lap in the car. “He’s going to fall,” one of the kids (presumably Archie) says offscreen. Markle responds, “He’s not going to fall, don't you worry. Mama has him. Thank you for being such a good boy.”

The tribute concludes with a voiceover of Markle and the kids singing, “We love you Guy, yes we do. We love you Guy, and we'll be true. When you’re not near us, we’re blue.” *Wipes tear*

The caption of the post read, “In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up….and fell in love. They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”

It continued, “I have cried too many tears to count - the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too.”

The Sussex kids are growing up too fast.
