You might recognize the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles from this year's Academy Awards. But it was also the location of last night's ESPY Awards, where Prince Harry was honored with the Pat Tillman Award for Service for his work with the Invictus Games Foundation.
And while, royally speaking, it was Harry's night, he wasn't the one I was talking about after the event—it was his wife, Meghan Markle, and tennis legend Serena Williams.
The pair shut the ESPYs red carpet down with their stunning looks. Markle wore an Oscar de la Renta halter gown that looked an awful lot like her Stella McCartney wedding reception dress (see below).
Williams, who served as host of the ESPYs, donned a similar neckline with her gorgeous blood red gown. The tennis star's custom Ferragamo dress featured ostrich feathers and metallic leather sequins.
The duo stopping to pose for pictures on the red carpet—which by far was the only part of the ESPYs I cared about—should come as no surprise. They've been longtime friends, and Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian were even at Meghan and Harry's wedding.
During her opening monologue, Williams called out her royal friends, per People. She said, "It's well, actually only pretty often that I get to be in a room with actual royalty, and tonight is no exception. Prince Harry and Meghan are here. Let's give it up for them."
She continued, "But please, Harry and Meghan, try not to breathe too much tonight. Because this is my night, and I don't want to be overshadowed by the accusations that you guys are taking up too much oxygen, okay?"
Despite Markle and Williams stealing the show on the red carpet, Williams did still take time to pose with her friend Harry as well.
A great night for royalty and sports royalty alike.
