Today in news that’s a touch absurd: The wedding trumpet used at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Windsor Castle wedding is officially on sale.
Quick refresher just in case you forgot: It was May 19. Meghan Markle was dressed in Givenchy and was escorted down the aisle at St. George’s Chapel by Prince Charles. In the distance, the sound of a trumpet could be heard playing Handel’s Eternal Source of Light Divine as Meghan made her way to Prince Harry, who immediately mouthed: “I'm so lucky.” (Le sigh.)
Welp, now that trumpet—owned by acclaimed musician David Blackadder—has a price tag on eBay. It’s listed at 5,000 pounds (approximately $6,500) to start. So far, just two bids have been placed.
Also included is a note from David himself about what makes the instrument so special. “This is a once in a lifetime chance to own a true piece of royal history.” He also reminds potential bidders that an estimated live audience of 1.9 billion people heard him play. (Not too shabby.)
