Even though Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are no longer senior members of the British royal family, they still abide by most of their rules. Of course, there are exceptions—like Prince Harry’s latest outing when he took a page out of Kate Middleton’s handbook.
This week, the Duchess of Sussex posted a behind-the-scenes video on her Instagram Story, featuring Prince Harry breaking protocol while in Whistler for the 2025 Invictus Games.
In the video (screenshot above), Prince Harry stops the car and rolls down the window to talk to two fans. It doesn’t take long for the royal to realize there’s a language barrier, especially when one woman asks if anyone speaks French. In the background, Markle says, “un petit peu” (which means “a little bit”).
Prince Harry points to the passenger in the front seat, adding, “He speaks the most.”
Prince Harry isn’t the only royal to break protocol as of late. Earlier this month, Princess Catherine visited the Corgi knitwear and sock factory in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire. On her way out, the Princess of Wales stopped the car and heeded the call of 3-year-old Lily-Rose, who had been crying out to her.
The royal said, “I heard you say ‘hello’ from all the way back there and I wanted to come and see you.”
