It was a surprise (and delight) to see Meghan Markle on the red carpet this weekend at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles 2024 Gala. While the world was aflutter about the repeat wear of her stunning floor-length Carolina Herrera gown, last worn while on her husband Prince Harry’s arm to the Salute to Freedom Gala in NYC in November 2021, there was something else the internet couldn’t stop buzzing about: Meghan’s makeup-free look.
Meghan Markle Stuns at Children’s Hospital Charity Event—But It’s Her ‘Makeup-Free’ Look That Has Everyone Talking
Effortless and elegant
It was a noticeable contrast to the last time the Duchess of Sussex donned this particular dress: In 2021, her hair was pulled back into a glamorous updo; her makeup—especially that around her eyes—was much more smoky and bold. But just as she updated her gown for this occasion by removing its volume-adding skirt, Meghan’s minimalist hair and makeup routine over the weekend reflected a more effortless (but equally elegant) vibe.
Instead of an updo, she opted for beachy waves while her beauty routine appeared to be limited to a touch of eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss—complete with her signature dewy glow. Meghan’s go-to makeup artist and friend, Daniel Martin, who helped the Duchess of Sussex achieve her royal wedding day look, has spoken over the years about Meghan’s preference for a more natural look. (The “no makeup” makeup look has also been trending for 2024.)
Back to the dress: Meghan’s choice of barely there makeup for the red carpet also allowed her bright red gown to take center stage. In the meantime, we’re thinking a lot about the reports that cosmetics could be one of the product offerings available on American Riviera Orchard, Meghan’s new lifestyle brand, which is currently anticipated to launch in early 2025.
