This past weekend, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were honored at the 53rd Annual NAACP Image Awards with the prestigious President's Award, as a recognition of their “special achievement and distinguished public service.”
While accepting the award that has previously gone to such major names as Muhammad Ali and Condoleezza Rice, the royal couple sported Black designers, with Prince Harry in a tux from Ozwald Boateng and Markle seen in a dress from Christopher John Rogers. And although the ceremony occurred days ago, the internet is still abuzz with admiration for Markle's dress.
The custom, one-shouldered design featured two striking tones of royal blue and aqua. In addition to having a slit up the side, the fabric at the top of the dress extended into a long train that flowed behind Markle while she was on stage. A shot of the dress (scroll right in the slideshow below) was seen in a post made by NAACP CEO and President, Derrick Johnson, who said, “Congratulations again to this year’s @naacpimageawards President’s Award recipients @sussexroyal. #ThisIsPower.”
